Well you have to admit they had to move on to a new system eventually, and at least now we get these awesome graphics. So don't think of it as you HAVE to, think of it as now you get
to! plus the 3ds has more battery life and is a good upgrade.

New elolutions/pre-evolutions

your rival's a jerk (not like in gens 3, 4, and 5) and he eventually joins the protagonist team (like team plasma)
